Dear friends,

 

We have an important announcement to make.Less than one month ago we were informed by the city council and the Tourism of Lisbon that, even though they had committed themselves with us that we would be able to organize the Milonga at Mercado da Ribeira, after all the event wouldn’t be able to take place in such venue. The reason has to do mainly with the fact that Mercado da Ribeira will be submitted to urgent refurbishment and remodeling works by the time our marathon’s taking place.During the past month, we have been suffering a lot with this problem, because it was a very special venue, hard to replace, and we’ve advertised it a lot… now, we would have to disappoint the participants justified expectations and even though it is absolutely not our fault, still, as organizers, we have to assume the responsibility towards each and every one of you.

 

Fortunately, we have found an amazing venue for our marathon that will not let any of you down. Some of you may already know it, because it’s the same venue where the Lisbon Tango Festival of June has been taking place for the past few years: VOZ DO OPERÁRIO. It’s a beautiful venue, with a big and wooden dance floor. Trust us, in this matter, it’s as good as Mercado da Ribeira, if not better.The location, even though it’s not in the same place as Mercado da Ribeira, still it’s in the heart of Lisbon.

 

Next to Alfama, the most ancient and traditional neighborhood of the city, VOZ DO OPERÁRIO is located just in the path of the famous nº28 Touristic Electric Tram.For those of you who have already booked hotels considering the previous venue, maybe you can try to cancel your reservation and find something closer to the new location (we’ll be posting some recommendations soon in our website and on facebook). If it’s not possible to cancel your reservation, then don’t worry because you can always take the nº28 Tram from near Mercado da Ribeira to VOZ DO OPERÁRIO (Graça) from 06.00 to 23.00 and from 23.00 to 06.00 we will provide a solution.

 

There are not enough words to express how deeply sorry we are. We’ve been organizing this event for a long time now, trying to think of everything and being careful with all the details… we were not expecting this.Still, in the end we are happy to have found a solution and we are now sure that we’ll have an amazing time together, because this new venue and location, if not as good as Mercado da Ribeira’s, they can only be better!Thank you for understanding and please feel free to write us with any questions you may have.
